How to estimate the value of your gold in Tunisia
To estimate the gold value of a piece, you need three things: its weight, its carat and today's price.
The formula
Gold value = weight in grams × price per gram for that carat.
The price per gram comes from the 24 carat price: 24 carat price × carat ÷ 24. The lor.tn calculator does this for you.
Example
For a 10 gram bracelet in 18 carat, if a gram of 18 carat is worth 280 dinars, the gold value is 10 × 280 = 2,800 dinars. This figure is only an example: check today's price.
What the estimate does not tell you
It gives the value of the metal alone, not the price of a piece in a shop or the amount a buyer will offer. Stones and non-gold parts should not be counted in the weight.
Weigh the piece on an accurate scale and check its carat from the hallmark. If in doubt, have it checked by a professional.
